Sound Recordist Grant Shepherd joins the team
We’re thrilled to officially welcome Grant Shepherd to the FENECH – The Jeff Fenech Story team as our Sound Recordist.
Sound is one of those departments you don’t truly notice… until it’s not right. In a film like FENECH — where you’re living inside crowded stadiums, sweaty gyms, chaotic streets, intimate family moments, and the raw pressure-cooker of the fight world — authentic sound isn’t a luxury, it’s the backbone of the experience. The right sound pulls you into the ring. The wrong sound reminds you you’re watching a movie.
That’s why bringing Grant on board is such a big moment for us.
Fresh off BEAST (starring Russell Crowe, Dan Macpherson & Luke Hemsworth)
Grant has just wrapped sound recording on BEAST (2026), starring Russell Crowe, Dan Macpherson and Luke Hemsworth — a high-calibre production that demands precision, speed, and total confidence under pressure. That kind of recent, front-line experience is exactly what we need on FENECH, where the scale and intensity of the boxing sequences must feel immediate, brutal, and real.
When you’re capturing dialogue over movement, bodies, crowds, sweat, impact, and adrenaline — you need someone who’s done it at the highest level and can deliver consistency day after day. Grant is that person.
Decades of experience across Australia’s biggest productions
Grant isn’t new to this — far from it. He’s been working across film and television for decades, and his credits reflect a career built on craft, reliability, and world-class on-set sound.
Some standout projects from Grant’s extensive screen work include:
- The Artful Dodger (2023) – Sound Recordist
- RFDS (2021–2023) – Sound Recordist
- Last King of the Cross (2023) – Sound
- Bali 2002 (2022) – Sound Recordist
- Janet King (2014–2017) – Sound Recordist
- Rake (2012) – Sound Recordist
- A Place to Call Home (2013) – Sound Recordist
- Felony (2013) – Sound
- The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert (1994) – Additional Recording
And that’s only a snapshot. Grant’s filmography spans drama, action, comedy, family television, and large-scale productions — exactly the kind of varied background that makes him such a powerful asset on a feature like FENECH.
Why Grant is the perfect fit for FENECH
FENECH is a film of contrasts — explosive public moments and deeply personal private ones. The sound world needs to shift seamlessly between:
- the tight intimacy of family and relationships
- the ambient texture of gyms, locker rooms and training spaces
- the pressure and chaos of crowds, media, and big fight nights
- and the visceral truth of punches landing, breath catching, bodies moving
Capturing that properly starts on set — and Grant’s experience across both major drama series and feature films gives us full confidence we’ll be recording performances with clarity, control, and authenticity, no matter how intense the day gets.
A huge welcome to the team
Grant, we’re genuinely excited to have you on board. Your reputation, your credits, and your recent work on major productions make you an outstanding addition to the crew — and we’re proud to have you bringing the sound of FENECH to life.
More announcements soon as the team continues to grow.
Welcome to FENECH, Grant Shepherd.
